| Probably half our family stayed here during this year's family reunion. The rooms were very clean and well kept, and the staff was friendly. I especially appreciated the high-speed internet service. This is a small motel, with two floors but no elevator. If we had known, we would have asked for a first floor for mom. The restaurant was a picture perfect small-town diner. Last stay here: July 2007 | ||

| I've known about this little restaurant on Route 250, just outside of Philippi since the 1980s when I lived in the area. I never took the opportunity to stop there until this summer, when several of my family stayed at the Philippi Lodge for the family reunion. It is a picture perfect small town diner. I ate breakfast there every morning during my stay. On my next visit to WV, I will try the lunch or dinner menu. Visit date: July 2007 | ||

ReplyDeleteThat's not the place up on a high hill that overlooks a river and an island below, is it? We stopped at this place once while traveling through WVA and enjoyed it but couldn't find it again on the return trip.
ReplyDeleteNo, not overlooking any river or island. It's a small motel and diner along Rt. 250 in Philippi.
ReplyDeletePhilippi sounds familiar. In that area is there a famous Inn or whatever people stay? And I can't get "high on a hill" or some such expression out of my head. Very high up but no river view. Just valleys and mountain tops.
ReplyDeleteNow the name of the river view restaruant/inn is going to bug me because we enjoyed the restaurant but couldn't find it during the return trip.
